* '''Contributing to a worthwhile cause:''' Present the competition as an opportunity to promote cultural values or preserve a community's heritage.
* '''Belonging to a creative community:''' Participants can join a global community of creators, exhibit their work and interact with other designers and artists.
* '''Local and international recognition:''' Competitions offering both local and international visibility particularly appeal to people wishing to broaden their portfolios and gain global recognition.

== 10. An engaging competition structure ==
* '''Stages:''' Running the competition in stages, with eliminations or intermediate rounds, can sustain participants' interest and motivation.
* '''Awards in several categories:''' Awards for the most creative design, the strongest technical design or the public's favourite, for example, increase people's chances of winning and motivation to enter.
* '''Public voting:''' Involving the public in online judging can attract a wider audience and raise participants' profiles.

== Conclusions ==
To attract and motivate participants, combine tangible benefits — prizes, professional recognition and career opportunities — with what stimulates creativity and emotion: interesting challenges and community impact. Well-targeted promotion and an engaging sequence of stages will maximise interest and involvement.
